About Social Battery

A free tool for sharing your social energy level — no awkward explanations needed.

What is a social battery?

Social battery is a metaphor for a person’s emotional and social energy reserves. Like a phone battery, it depletes when you spend time with others and recharges when you have time alone.

The term is widely used by introverts, extroverts, and neurodivergent individuals to describe how much social interaction they can handle at any given time. Some people drain quickly and need solitude to recover. Others thrive on social contact. Most people are somewhere in between, and it changes day to day.

What does the app do?

Social Battery lets you set your current energy level on a scale of 1 (completely empty) to 5 (fully charged). You can add a short status — a preset like “recharging” or “open to plans”, or a custom message — and share a personal link so friends can check in without having to ask.

Instead of leaving messages on read, making excuses, or overexplaining, you just point people to your link. They see where you’re at. No back and forth needed.

Who is it for?

Frequently asked questions

How do I get started?

Sign up with your email address. You'll receive a magic link to log in — no password needed. Once in, claim a username and your personal link is ready to share.

Does the battery update automatically?

No. You update it manually whenever your energy changes. This keeps it intentional — your level reflects how you actually feel, not an algorithm's guess.

Can I keep my profile private?

Yes. You can set your profile to unlisted in Settings. It won't appear in search engines or public listings, but is still accessible to anyone with your direct link.

Is there a mobile app?

Not yet. The web app works on mobile and can be added to your home screen like an app. A native app may come in the future.

Is it free?

Yes, completely free.
